Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about any atrocities. Can a good Muslim be a good American? This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The following is his reply:”

“Theologically - no . . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon God of Arabia”

“Religiously - no. . . Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)”

“Scripturally - no. . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.”

“Geographically - no . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.”

“Socially - no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews”

“Politically - no. . . Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.”

“Domestically - no. . Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34)”

“Intellectually - no. . Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.”

“Philosophically - no. . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot coexist.

Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.”

“Spiritually - no. . . Because when we declare 'one nation under God,' the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.”

“Therefore, after much study and deliberation.... Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. - - - They obviously cannot be both 'good' Muslims and good Americans.

Call it what you wish it's still the truth. You had better believe it. The more

who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. The religious war is bigger than we know or understand .. .”

“And Barack Hussein Obama, a Muslim, wants to be our President? You have GOT to be kidding! Wake up America !”

Many people here in the States and around the world have received, more than once over the last year or so, this very misinformed, hateful, potentially dangerous, and destructive “Fwd: e-mail: CAN A GOOD MUSLIMS BE GOOD AMERICANS?”,

We, at “Abraham’s Children Ministries”, can not ignore it any longer, so we will be attempting to respond to all these allegations in a responsible, respectful, and well supported manner. We will see what the Respectful Qur’an actually has to say about the following accusations! Our, ACM’s, response is in BLUE interjected within the points presented in the e-mail in WHITE and italic.

Please note that this gentleman, despite the fact that he spent all that time in Saudi Arabia, is very much unaware of what a “good Muslim” believes and practices! Another fact is that when he attributes facts to the “Honored Qur’an”, he does not take the time to read the whole text within its context!

Now we will deal with these allegations one at a time:

“Theologically - no . . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon God of Arabia”

No one can nor should deny the fact that the name “Allah” was the name of an idol in the city of Mecca in pre-Islamic times! But the fact is that it was then used to represent the ONLY ONE TRUE GOD. And it is the ONLY title used in the “Torah” (the Old Testament “OT”) and the “Gospel/Injeel” (the New Testament “NT”), more commonly known as the “Holy Bible” in the Arabic Translations. Do Arab Christians worship a different god from the Western one?

Having said that, we find ourselves faced with a big problem when we use the name “GOD” because it was the name of a Nordic “god” known as “GOT”! Do Western Christians worship a heathen deity? All you need to do is “Google” the word “God” and you will read for yourself all the facts; that is if you want to be fair!

And what about the name “El” which is used in the “Torah” OT to refer to God; like in "Immanu-El", "Micha-El", "Gabri-El", “Isra-El” or “Beth-El” and many other examples throughout not only the “Torah” OT but the “Injeel/Gospel” NT also. This was a word that meant “Idol” and was used by other heathen peoples to refer to their “gods”! The amazing fact is that God Himself used it when He changed Jacob’s name to “Israel”!

Are we going to accuse God of revering a heathen deity?

The logical question then becomes: Why can Western Christians and Jews use the names of heathen gods and get away with it but Muslims and Arab Christians can not?

Has any one out there taken the time to look-up this text in the “Honored Qur’an”? It is very evident that not even the “accuser” took the time to check this out! What does this do to his credibility?

Here is what the Text says (all qur’anic quotations are from “The Meaning of The Holy Qur’an” by Abdullah Yusuf ‘Ali):

“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects Evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy handhold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.” Qur’an 2:256

Here is what the Honored Qur’an really says about Religion:

“Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was true in Faith (the Arabic word used hear is HANIF. Please read what we have in the word definition section), and bowed down his will to Allah’s, (Which is Islam), and he joined not gods with Allah.” Qur’an 3:67

What about Christians and Jews; referred to as “People of the Book”? “… If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. … Not all of them are alike: Of the People of the Book mare a portion that stand (for the right); they rehearse the Signs of Allah all night long and they prostrate themselves in adoration. They believe in Allah and the Last Day; they enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and they hasten (in emulation) in (all) good works: they are in the ranks of the righteous. Of the good that they do, nothing will be rejected of them; for Allah knoweth well those that do right.” Qur’an 3:110b, 113-115

“Scripturally - no. . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.”

“Say ye: ‘We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Issac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: and we bow to Allah (in Islam).” Qur’an 2:136.

Now let us look at the Five Pillars or Articles of Faith and see what they are:

1- Belief in the One and Only True GOD;

2- Belief in GOD’s Angels;

3- Belief in All GOD’s Books;

4- Belief in All GOD’s Prophets;

5- Belief in the Day of Judgment and Life after Death.

What is SO BAD about these believes? Would someone of such a faith be a bad person, regardless of ethnicity?

“Geographically - no . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.”

Does this mean that Muslims have no allegiance to their own countries?

Do not Jews turn towards Jerusalem when they pray or at least when they sound the Shophar? Does that make them BAD Americans?

Prior to the "Hijra" (flight) from Mecca to Yathreb, better known today as Al-Madina, which took place in 622 AD, Muslims used to face towards Jerusalem when they prayed and kept Holy the seventh-day Sabbath! It was only after the Jewish community of Yathreb refused to come to the aid of the Messenger Muhammad and defend him and his three hundred men, as they were being attacked by a large army of Quorishites, his own people of Mecca, that the Messenger chose to disassociate himself from the Jews. The Messenger Muhammad instructed his followers to face toward Mecca because it housed "Al-Ka'aba", which was built by our father Abraham and his son Ishmael, as a house of worship to Allah/God.

Friday is not a Holy Day for Muslims, it is a holiday. The ONLY HOLY DAY is the Seventh-Day of the week:

"It is Allah Who has created the heavens and the earth, and all between them, in six Days, then He established Himself on the Throne (of authority); ye have none besides Him, to protect or intercede (for you): will ye not then receive admonition?" Qur’an 32:4

“Socially - no. . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews”

Does this “accuser” live in the real world? If he did not have any Muslim friends during the 20 years he was in Saudi Arabia it is because of his very bigoted behavior; true is the saying: “to make friends, you have to be friendly”! Add to that the fact that most foreigners working there, including Christian Arabs, live in separate, walled-in, gated, and completely self sufficient communities and could chose not to mingle with the local people.

Please do not insult our intelligence by saying that there are no Americans,

right here in the US of A, who have very dear and trusted Muslim friends! And what about those who go to the Middle East as tourists? Are they lying when they say that the Arabs are some of the friendliest and most hospitable people in the World?

So does the Qur’an have any thing to say about this?

“…And nearest among them in love to the Believers wilt thou find those who

say, ‘We are Christians’: Because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.” Qur’an 5:82

"Our Lord! Make us not a (test and) trial for the Unbelievers, but forgive us, our Lord! For Thou are the Exalted in Might, the Wise. There was indeed in them an excellent example for you to follow-- for those whose hope is in Allah and in the Last Day. But if any turn away, truly Allah is Free of all wants. Worthy of all Praise. It may be that Allah will grant love (and friendship) between ye and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For Allah has power (Over all things);

And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Qur'an 60:5-7

Any good Muslim will say that he/she must submit FIRST and ONLY to GOD but will refer to Him by the Arabic name “Allah”.

Are we forgetting about the thousands of Muslim volunteers in our Armed Forces? Are we accusing them of not supporting our country politically even as they are sacrificing their lives to protect our NOT SO FREE FREEDOM!

Yes this verse says to “beat them” as a last resort: “… Admonish them (first),

(next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly) …”

As for marrying four women we need to go to a different verse:

“If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hand possess. That will be more suitable to prevent you from doing injustice.” Qur’an 4:3

These were instructions given after the Battle of Uhud which left behind many helpless and destitute widows and orphans who had no way of surviving without a man providing for them. Was it better to be part of a “harem” or become a prostitute? Polygamy is the exception rather than the norm in the Arab world today.

What about the Biblical accounts of polygamists, especially in the OT?

Do we not have polygamists right here in the USA?

Is it not true that every seven seconds a woman is abused in America?

Please do not forget that every time we point a finger of accusation at someone, we are pointing three fingers at ourselves! It is an undisputable reality that while a minority of Muslims marry more than one woman at the same time, a majority of Westerners marry several women in succession along with having extra- marital affairs.

The only reason a Muslim believes that the Bible is corrupt is the actions of those who claim to be Bible followers. Actions like sending out this hateful bigoted letter! People who claim to be Christ like while leading amoral life styles! People who proclaim that they worship several gods, in the Muslim’s understanding, by saying that they worship God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and Mary the Mother of God! Muslims believe that Christians say that God had a physical union with Mary which resulted in the birth of Jesus. Can we blame them for such a conclusion when some of the leading Christian Clergy proclaim that they do not believe in the “virgin conception of Jesus”? The Qur’an emphatically states that Jesus was born from a “chaste virgin”, Qur’an 21:91; 66:12.

Yes! It is TRUE! God is never referred to as “Heavenly Father” in the honored Qur’an. The reason being that Christians have so misrepresented this term that it has become blasphemous to a Muslim. God does not have an offspring!

Now about the names or attributes of God/Allah: For the sake of time and space we would highly recommend to the serious seeker to do a “Google” search and find at least thirty eight names/attributes that show love, care, longsuffering… etc.

As for a loving Allah, hear are three Qur’anic references:

1- “But ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn unto Him (in repentance); for my Lord is indeed full of mercy and loving kindness.” Qur’an 11:90

2- “On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, will (Allah) Most Gracious bestow Love.” Qur’an 19:96

3- “And He is the Oft-Forgiving, full of loving-kindness.” Qur’an 85:14

“Therefore, after much study and deliberation.... Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. - - - They obviously cannot be

both 'good' Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you wish it's still the truth. You had better believe it. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. The religious war is bigger than we know or understand … .”

Do you still agree with this ignorant conclusion?
